You may have recently received word from Mailchimp or Constant Contact stating that you need to "self-authenticate" your domain, or you'll be in danger of email send failures or other verification issues. Let us assure you: the process is truly much simpler (and quicker to resolve) than it sounds.
First, it's important to know where to go. Any time you need to change or update DNS records, such as adding CNAME and TXT records with this process, that happens in Cloudflare. It does not happen with your domain registrar. Domain registration and domain hosting are two separate processes, and we outline that in detail in this article if you'd like to learn more: What's the difference between domain registration and hosting?
You must contact us to make changes in Cloudflare in two ways:
1) we can make the appropriate updates for you, which is part of your contracted client support and will always be available. Or,
2) you can ask for access to a DNS panel in the MV platform to make changes yourself – however, this panel may not be available depending on the age of your install, so please contact us at membershipvision@learningforte.com to see if this is an option.
Now that you know where to go, let's talk about how to complete the self authentication. Log in to your Mailchimp or Constant Contact account, and follow the directions in one of the following articles:
Mailchimp Self-Authentication | Constant Contact Self-Authentication
If you would like us to make updates on your behalf, copy and paste the text directly into an email to us as the articles direct. Do not alter the text. List them on separate lines like this:
CNAME 1:
Value 1:
CNAME 2:
Value 2:
TXT:
Value:
Then send them over, and we will confirm with you when the updates have been completed! You may also see visual confirmation in your newsletter service stating that self-authentication is "active".
