If you're seeing a page appear twice like in the screenshot below, this likely isn't a bug, but rather a totally understandable mistake! Even the word "mistake" is a little extreme; the cause of this issue is somewhat intuitive, but unnecessary – you'll see what I mean.
In this screenshot, "Nia's Page" is duplicated. It is found as both a high-level menu item and a sub-menu item (as seen in the sidebar where it is displayed twice).
This happens when you create a menu item and set the parent page as itself.
It is almost never necessary to set a page to be the parent/child of itself, unless you want this exact scenario to happen – here are some rules for parent-child page relationships:
- When creating high-level menu items, or main menu items (the menu items that will display across the top of your website), you do not need to set a parent. They are the highest menu item, and therefore have no parent.
-
When creating a menu hierarchy that is more than two levels deep, like parent->child->child, the bottom two menu items will have a parent while the top item will have no parent. For example:
Menu item/page name
Parent page
Music
none
History of Our Music Program
Music
Upcoming Performances & Residencies
History of Our Music Program
If you find your pages duplicated like this, log in the platform and find the page that you see is appearing twice. Remove the parent page, hit Update, and refresh your site to confirm changes.
